Global smash Van Gogh Alive hits Edinburgh's Festival Square in March

This must-see exhibition promises a kaleidoscope of colour as it unforgettably immerses you in the artist's world
It's been a challenging couple of years but things are already looking brighter for 2022. Hosted within a vast, purpose-built venue in Festival Square, right in the heart of the Scottish capital, international cultural sensation Van Gogh Alive will be making its way to Edinburgh next year.
Having already impressed a global audience of over 8.5 million in 75 cities, including Rome, Sydney and recent sell-out runs in London and Birmingham, this unique and powerful multi-screen attraction will be delighting visitors from Thursday 17 March right up until Sunday 17 July. Tickets are on sale now and will make for a perfect Christmas gift priced at £22 for adults (or £20 for concessions) and £15 for children, with school group discounts available and under-fives able to attend free of charge.
Created by leaders in the field of immersive art displays, the Melbourne-based Grande Experiences, Van Gogh Alive is a multi-sensory showcase that presents the work of the legendary Dutch artist in an innovative, whole-family-pleasing and reassuringly Covid-safe way. Audiences will take a trip through Van Gogh's life in an exhibition that charts his evolution as an artist and helps you better understand his intentions through the inclusion of an interpretative area where you can learn all about his work.
The show incorporates over 3000 stunning images, including iconic works such as Starry Night and Sunflowers, displayed in a never-before-seen fashion, as they are projected on a large and impactful scale. This exhilarating experience is miles from a conventional trip to an art gallery so should appeal to a broad audience, and simply has to be seen to be believed.
Van Gogh's work will be illuminated in glorious detail using the organisation's revolutionary SENSORY4 system, which combines multi-channel motion graphics beamed through up to 40 high-definition projectors, and cinema-quality digital surround sound enhancing the evocative classical score. Combined with the exhibition's recreation of the aromas of Provence, the overall effect is of living, breathing art.
If that wasn't enough, interactive stations will allow you to make your own art with the assistance of video tutorials, creating some very special souvenirs which you can then share on social, alongside your selfies from the 'Sunflower Selfie Room', a 360˚ mirrored room featuring thousands of sunflowers. So if you want to get an unforgettable experience in the diary for 2022 and be first in the queue for a cultural phenomenon then look no further.
