Buzzfeed has just published an interview with Scottish Labour's Kezia Dugdale MSP, in which the party's leadership favourite to replace Jim Murphy responds entirely in emoji. Lost for words at this turn in the political dialogue, we decide to capture our reaction in the only remaining appropriate format.

At first when we clicked on the link we were like

Some people took it kinda badly

Others were more conflicted, but no-one could quite comprehend what had just happened

Our disbelief continued because, well, you know

By the time we realised that poltical discourse actually fits seamlessly with emojis we couldn't help but wonder

And this made us really sad

We wanted to blame Buzzfeed so badly

Then we had an idea to talk through Dugdale's emojis using the best defense mechanism we've learned to deal with life's curveballs

No, not that …

Using GIFs, obvs

And trying to be positive about it, we figure at least it got people reading a political interview they would otherwise have ignored

So, here's to you, Buzzfeed

And how could we forget, you too, Kezia Dugdale
