5 things to see at the Edinburgh International Magic Festival

Including Richard Wiseman, Luke Jermay, Michael Neto and Rob Zabrecky

1. Opening Gala

Prepare yourself for the week-long festival of illusion, sleight-of-hand, mind reading and theatre promised by this year’s EIMF with this bill of international performers including Lukas (South Korea), Rob Zabrecky (USA), Max Guito (France), Xavier Tapias (Spain), R Paul Wilson (UK) and more.
Royal Lyceum Theatre, Fri 27 Jun.

2. Richard Wiseman: Mind Magic

For everyone experiencing a touch of cynicism at the whole prospect of a magic festival, Wiseman could be the act for you. A magician, psychologist, author and much-viewed YouTube broadcaster, Wiseman promises to illuminate the deception, illusion and persuasion used in making magic a success.
Scottish Storytelling Centre, Mon 30 Jun.

3. Luke Jermay: Strange Power

Self-described as having ‘made more accurate public predictions than any psychic entertainer in history’ (he does it on Twitter), the heavily-tattooed Jermay will be seeking here to foretell away with any question you care to ask.
Scottish Storytelling Centre, Sat 28 Jun--Fri 4 Jul (not Mon 30).

4. Michael Neto: Tragic Magic

Magic meets theatre in this Sonic Boom Theatre Company presentation, as four-time Scottish champion of close-up magic Neto tells us what happened when his fiancée said it was her or magic.
Scottish Storytelling Centre, Sat 28 Jun--Fri 4 Jul (not Mon 30).

5. The Secret Room

Lauriston Castle is scenic enough as it is, but this event promises to connect its well-preserved early 20th century grandeur to a series of stories, performances and illusions designed to make full use of the ambience of one of Edinburgh’s hidden wonders.
Lauriston Castle, Thu 3 Jul.

Edinburgh International Magic Festival, various venues, Edinburgh, Fri 27 Jun--Fri 4 Jul.
