The Raindance Film Festival – a London-based film fest that aims to promote the best in independent (and often low-budget) cinema – is going out on tour this month, bringing a selection films that showcase their tastes to cities around the UK. Each of the films debuted at Raindance 2013, and range from electro-docs to po-mo romcoms to accidental slashers.

Powerless is a doc tackling the infrastructural problem of ‘electricity poverty’ in India (and features the power-jacking ‘Katiyabaaz’ who illegally tap the power lines for the good of the community); Whoops follows the unwittingly murderous antics of an accident-prone Yorkshirewoman and her doting husband; while The Critic focuses on a film reviewer who fears he may be trapped in his most hated genre, the romantic comedy. In addition to these selections, the touring fest also features a special shorts programme and two invaluable initiatives for amateur filmmakers : the 48 Hour Film Challenge and 99 Minute Film School.
