Hogmanay 2013/14 - the best Edinburgh club celebrations

Musika, Jackhammer, Wee Dub, Vegas and Gasoline Dance Machine all to throw NYE parties
Edinburgh’s got a reputation to maintain when it comes to putting on the biggest Hogmanay party on the planet, and it’s no slouch when it comes to hosting club nights that keep the party going well after the bells have tolled.
An event that has become as synonymous with New Year in the capital as singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is The Vegas! Grand Hogmanay Ball at the Voodoo Rooms, a fabulous mix of swinging jazz and big-band boogie with a dash of burlesque and whole heap of glamour. It features the usual suspects (Frankie Sumatra, Bugsy Seagull, Sam Jose and Nuno Endo plus Nikki Nevada and The Vegas Showgirls) alongside special guests The Soul Foundation and Missy Malone (£50 club and dinner packages also available).
Those with a hankering for house should check out Gasoline Dance Machine’s Wolf Music Label Party with Medlar and KRL. Musika is hosting a big-name Hogmanay guest as usual: the details are still under wraps, but there’s a solid warm-up party with Eats Everything and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at their Christmas Party on Sat 14 Dec at the Liquid Room.
If it’s harder beats you’re craving, Jackhammer celebrate their 12th birthday in style with an enviable techno line-up as they take over the Liquid Room on Sat 28 Dec with a double bill of live acts (Ege Bam Yasi and Stephen Brown), plus DJ Rolando and a mystery guest still to be announced. But if you’re begging for even deeper bass rumbles, the Wee Dub Hogmanay (The Caves) should answer your prayers as they are joined by Dreadzone, Jinx in Dub, Capitol 1212, Electrikal Soundsytem, Too Much Fun Club, Chapel Perilous Art System and more.
