Edinburgh International Film Festival returns for its 74th edition on Wed 17 June. One of UK's most prominent moving image extravaganzas is yet to announce the full programme of the festival (this will happen on 27 May), however there is some news worth getting excited about.

EIFF Works in Progress Award has been running since 2016 but this year the festival has begun a new partnership with One Bright Dot, a post-production facility specialising in Grade, Motion Graphics, VFX and Audio. The new collaboration also means £20,000 of funding will go to the most promising project for use against a future production. The award's aim is to support UK filmmakers with the creation, completion and distribution of their pieces. The festival selects ten projects to be presented to a varied audience and awards the winning project with a £2,500 cash prize.

EIFF Works in Progress will take place on Sun 21 June and the winning team will follow the creative teams behind the likes of Cat in the Wall, Jellyfish and Us Among the Stones.

The festival's annual Internship Programme is also officially open and waiting for applications from anyone new and interested in the industry. The festival offers various positions within multiple departments so whether you are in love with films, curious about how a festival works or just devoted to event organisation, this is the place to be during summer. Twelve internships are available for up to three months across all of EIFF's key departments, which will aim to teach the tricks of the trade behind the scenes, guided by talented mentors along the way.
