What time is breakfast?
Any time up to an hour after check-out, unless breakfast’s included.

Tea or coffee?
Two coffees and a tea. Double espresso (no sugar) for me; black with milk and no sugar for Simon and peppermint tea for Steev, thanks. Never, ever that weak piss they serve in Starbucks.

Smoking or non-smoking?
Despite my best attempts to the contrary (the most successful one lasted two months), smoking.

Sweet or savoury snacks?
Personally, sweet. Big fan of chocolate over here. And cheesecake. There’s a café near where I stay in Paisley called Drennans Finest Food on Causeyside Street, and they do the best coffee and the best cheesecake ever. Do check it out.

What food do you miss when you tour?
Seafood – we’ve got two non-fish eaters in our touring party so fish is almost never on the menu. But I love salmon, sea bass and most shellfish. Oh, and Irn Bru whenever we’re outside the UK. Technically I don’t think it counts as food though so much as a low-grade narcotic.

Who’s the best cook you know?
My stepmum, probably. At least once a week I try and visit my dad and her for dinner.

What’s on your rider?
Beer and good quality vodka. Nothing says ‘I wish I didn’t book you for this show’ like Aldi’s own brand Tamova. Any promoter who rocks us up a bottle of Russian Standard, Absolut or Stoli has friends for life. Get us Grey Goose or Belvedere and we’ll marry you.

Which country/ city has the best food?
France. We played at a place in Toulouse called Le Bikini, which had the greatest catering I’ve ever tasted. Good god. I’m quivering just thinking about it now.

Do you eat out a lot?
A Japanese place on Sauchiehall Street called Nanakusa is my favourite restaurant on planet Earth, and my girlfriend and I’s home from home. The yaki barbeque ribs are just incredible, highly recommended.

Do you drink onstage?
Yeah, I operate a sliding scale depending the length of our set on any given night. Up to 45 minutes is one beer, an hour is two beers, over an hour is three beers. And a water. I never drink spirits on stage.
