Edinburgh

An Edinburgh Christmas Carol
Writer and director Tony Cownie's take on the festive classic sees Dickens' tale return to Edinburgh, with a guest appearance from the city's best-loved Victorian – Greyfriars Bobby. According to Edinburgh folklore, the inspiration for A Christmas Carol came from Dickens' visit to the city, where a stroll through a kirkyard brought him to the tombstone of one Ebenezer Scroggie.
Lyceum Theatre, until Sat 4 Jan

Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Allan Stewart, Andy Gray, Grant Stott and River City's Jordan Young star in this circus-themed take on the nursery tale. Expect plenty of music, laughter and gentle porridge larceny from the people who brought you last year's Beauty and the Beast, which won Pantomime of the Year at the Great British Pantomime Awards. King's Theatre, until Sun 19 Jan

Aladdin
There's a whole new world to discover at this staging of Ben Crocker's pantomime adaptation of Aladdin. The lovable scamp heads out on an adventure to defeat the dastardly magician Abanazar and earn the heart of Princess Jasmine, but will need some help from his magical genie and the audience this Christmas.

Jack and the Beanstalk
The classic tale of magic beans and unwieldy vegetation returns to the King's Theatre for the first time in over 30 years. Cinderfella
Glass slippers get swapped out for trainers in this gender-bending panto, written by Johnny McKnight. In an attempt to infiltrate a men-only ball and catch the attention of the fabulous Princess Charmaine, will sticky tape and fake facial hair be enough to out-manoeuvre Cinderfella's stepbrothers Harry and Larry and her wicked stepmother?
Tron Theatre, until Tue 31 Dec

The Lost Elves
Students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland stage this interactive Christmas adventure for little ones aged three to six. When a gaggle of Santa's helpers accidentally crash land in Glasgow in the run-up to the big day, they'll need all the help they can get to make it back to the North Pole in time to help Santa finish making all the presents for Christmas.
