New Glasgow based noiseniks, Secret Motorbikes, deliver I Get Up, their second offering in as many months, after their previous effort This Is Not A Hostel. This relentless DIY ethic that the guys pursue clearly serves them well as their playful post-punk nature shows an idiosyncratic love for pop hooks and raucous feedback alike. Tipping their hats to old school scenesters Television and The Modern Lovers, the EP is very much a labour of love for the band whose sound reflects a love of the garage genre.

The title track begins with a pounding Joy Division-esque drum beat leading into staccato riffage and awkward melodies that rip up the pop rule book and start again. 'Memory Foam' can only be described as a new wave ballad with tongue in cheek lyrics, 'I dont feel so pessimistic, now my face is all covered in lipstick'. The culmination of the record on the brilliantly titled 'Everybody Loves Ray-Bans' - hipsters take note - is awash with jingly jangly guitars coupled with unsettling tremolo sounds, given melodic reassurance by a carefree yet unhinged vocal style that dominates throughout. An extremely gnarly and rewarding listen.
