The 2012 Wickerman Festival line-up has been announced, with New Yorkers Scissor Sisters headlining the Summerisle stage on Fri 20 July, and Scottish favourites Texas headlining on Sat 21 July.

Scissor Sisters are expected to debut material from their highly anticipated new album Magic Hour, which will be released in the UK on 28 May 2012. Frontman Jake Shears said of their appearance:

'We are so excited to play at Wickerman Festival this year. The UK has always been our spiritual home, and Scotland has especially proven to be some of the best audiences we have ever experienced - and with all the great hype we have heard about Wickerman, it is sure to be a great show.'

Also performing on the Summerisle stage on Fri 20 will be The Levellers, Cast, Dog is Dead, Jenny O and Bis.

Saturday headline slot marks the also the only Scottish festival appearance this year from Texas, with other acts on the bill including The View, Newton Faulkner, Kassidy, Duke Special and The Heartbreaks.

Now in its 11th year, the festival will close with the customary lighting of the wicker man, followed by a DJ set from Mike Skinner, formerly of The Streets.

Along with established musicians, Wickerman will also see its share of new talent performing in the Solus Tent. Artists include Human Don’t Be Angry, United Fruit, Anderson McGinty Webster Ward and Fisher, and the acclaimed Beerjacket.

Skiddle’s Bass Camp Tent will also see various DJ’s featured in their ‘2012 – A Bass Odyssey’ line-up, including BBC Radio 1’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ Jordan Suckley, Yousef, Kryder, D.O.D and ex-Corrie star Graeme Hawley.

Festival Cordinator Helen Chalmers is delighted to be revealing the first names of the 2012 line-up:

'We are incredibly excited to be unveiling this year’s line-up which is classic Wickerman – an eclectic mix of established, emerging and retro artists that will deliver some fantastic performances across the two days of the festival… Wickerman offers two days of fantastic music for all tastes and ages, all blended with our relaxed, fun, friendly festival atmosphere.'
