Megan Shandley: Megazoid

Tackling obsessions and weird names in a confident set
Deriving the title from her ill-advised email address created for MSN Messenger when Megan Shandley was ten years old, Megazoid feels like a solid showcase of the Edinburgh native's comedic talents. Her acting training is on show from the top, as she's thoroughly composed on stage even in the face of some over-excited weekend folk. It comes as no surprise to learn that she was one of the Funny Women finalists last year.
This is a casual, loosely linked meander through her life, detailing her boyfriend, family life, and a desire to move to LA where she's already spent some time. If there's a theme here it's her obsession with Leonardo DiCaprio, one that has seen her bother hotel managers and the director of a film she appeared in last year.
One particular show highlight is the nonsensical and rather exclusive WhatsApp groups that she gets added to for no particular reason by her dad, plus there's some imaginative play with names, from pets with human names to the middle classes calling their kids after inanimate objects. There's an obvious instinct for the funny to be found in Megan Shandley.
