Including Ed Sheeran, Fugees, Kings Of Leon, Parquet Courts and more

Tell you what, that Ed Sheeran's quite popular. Since he unveiled his Mathematics tour last week, he's been like a proud ginger lion prowling the musical Serengeti and tearing apart other ticketing announcements with nary a shrug of his furry, acoustic guitar-carrying shoulders. Going toe-to-toe with Sheeran has the success ratio of a boutique postal service opening next to an Amazon delivery warehouse – you're not going to come out on top.

And yet here we are with a thousand-and-one other gigs vying for the top spot against the crowned king of earworm pop. It's been a busy old week, with indie stalwarts, arena rockers, and one of the finest hip hop acts in recording history planning shows for the very near future.

These tickets are available right now (or Saturday, in the case of Sheeran) – buy quick to avoid disappointment.

Ed Sheeran

Little known acoustic singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has announced a huge stadium tour of the UK in 2022, in part to support his latest album =. We were being sarcastic a minute ago when we called him 'little known', as there are few people on the planet who wouldn't recognise Sheeran's bespectacled mug, and we can't envision a stadium large enough to fit his legion of fans.

Tickets for Ed Sheeran's Mathematics tour go on sale at 9am on Saturday 25 September. Click here for performance dates and tickets.

Kings of Leon

Next up in the 'huge announcement guaranteed to sell out' category are the Kings Of Leon, who are set to play arenas throughout the UK in support of their eighth studio album When You See Yourself. The Leonistas, as nobody calls them, are grizzled veterans of arenas and are guaranteed to whip out plenty of their greatest hits.

Fugees

Step aside, Sheeran, here's the hottest ticket in town this week – hip hop royalty the Fugees have announced a one-off performance at London's O2 Arena this December to celebrate 25 years since the release of their seminal LP The Score. Frankly, we'd eat our left arm to hear Lauryn Hill belt out 'Ready Or Not' while Wyclef and Pras lay down some bars. Thanks to Ticketmaster you won't have to adopt any kind of ligament-eating barter system to see the Fugees, as they accept cards.

The Streets

Ageing statesmen of lairy lads The Streets have announced a tour of the UK in 2022. Frontman Mike Skinner has become something of a polymath over the past decade, opening nightclubs, DJing and being an all-round nice guy to up-and-coming acts like IDLES. But live performing has always been where The Streets shine, and this tour looks to be no different.

Parquet Courts

The indie hipster's guitar band of choice Parquet Courts are set to grace these shores with a UK tour next June in support of new album Sympathy For Life. These lads have been blasting out amazing tunes for over a decade, but Sympathy sees them firing on all cylinders, so expect the gigs to have the same creative drive and energy.

Peter Hook & The Light

Peter Hook, the mouthy bass player from Joy Division and New Order, is touring the UK with his band The Light next spring. Hooky's been keeping the Madchester flame burning for years, and The Light continues in that tradition, performing peerless renditions of Joy Division's classics. If you're feeling nostalgic for the good old days of mopey 80s rock, this is the tour for you.

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live

TRUCKS! HOT WHEELS! LOUD NOISES! Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live promises all of this and more. It's the perfect night out for anyone who regularly fantasises about watching an Audi A3 crushed underneath the tyres of a Mega Wrex like a cockroach on the foot of a giant, a scene reminiscent of a less erotic version of David Cronenberg's Crash (or more erotic, depending on what you're into). This monster truck extravaganza will tour arenas in January. It looks like a right laugh.

Don McLean

American songwriting legend Don McLean has announced a huge tour for 2022 to mark 50 years since the release of his classic 'American Pie'. McLean's live shows are renowned for their quick wit, singalong fun and pitch perfect performance style that only a man of advanced years can provide. We can't wait.

LP

Pop powerhouse LP will embark on a tour in January. Despite garnering millions of plays on Spotify, LP has been something of a musician's musician since her first album a decade ago, and has been the key architect in the singing careers of Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, the Backstreet Boys and more. She may fly under the radar, but she's loved by anyone who's heard her.
