Stuart Laws Is All In

Deliriously fun hour with a gilet-donning host

Stuart Laws may continually tell his audience to up their game, but it's really for our own benefit. After all, he's offering a prize at the end of August to one audience member he deems to have been the best during his run. This move may be a satire on the whole reviewing game and the way we judge so many comedians in August by either throwing stars at them or withholding those plaudits. Or, perhaps more likely, it could just have sprung out of a silly idea Laws had one day which has grown many arms and legs.

Kicking off with a 'jokes section', Laws rattles out a number of very decent gags before showing off Mastermind levels of expertise on the life, career and music of Will Smith. The classic Laws tropes are all here: the wearing of the gilet and the constant mispronunciation of a word to the point where you end up believing that to be the correct way to say it.

A deliriously fun and nonsensical hour full of tiny little treats, Stuart Laws Is All In defiantly stands proud as a show not to be taken seriously in any way, shape or form. And it's also great to know that Laws still likes to make 'honk honk' sounds out of his mouth.

Monkey Barrel, until 25 Aug (not 14), 12.20pm, £5 in advance or donations at the venue.
