An award is born!

Yuletide comedy Nativity! starring Martin Freeman and Ashley Jensen has won The List’s Film of the Year Award as part of the fourth annual Richard Attenborough Awards (RAFAs). Confetti director Debbie Issit’s new film pleased our readers so much they voted it their favourite film of the year above other top runners Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Moon, Let the Right One In and (500) Days of Summer.

After the awards Issit told us ‘Winning the public vote for the prestigious Richard Attenborough Film Awards is such a thrill for all of us who worked on Nativity! People really took the film to their hearts and this is the icing on the Christmas cake for us! I would really like to take this opportunity to thank The List for their support of Nativity! and especially to thank everyone who voted for us.’

The UK Regional Critic’s Poll, which is also part of the RAFAs, made Up! their film of the year with James Cameron scooping the award for director of the year for Avatar. Sam Rockwell scooped best performance for Moon, while the lovely Carey Mulligan took the actress and rising star gongs. Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner took the screenwriter of the year award for Up in the Air. The All Time Legend award went to, who else, but Richard Attenborough. Talk about insider dealing.
