Calvin Harris

The Dumfries born disk jockey and all round music maestro is riding high on the success of his latest album ‘Ready For The Weekend’ charting at number one in the UK, cementing his position as the premier recording DJ in Britain. His first album, the 80s inspired ‘I created Disco’, was responsible for the first of two hits in 2007, ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ and ‘The Girls’ respectively. While it never quite matched the chart success he is enjoying these days, it was largely responsible (for better or worse) in bringing the many ‘Born in the 80s’ slogan bearing t-shirts - which have become unavoidable on the high street fashion lines and summer festival scene – to infamous levels of prominence. But not until Harris remerged in 2008 with Dizzee Rascal for their number one single ‘Dance Wiv Me’ did the DJ really make people take notice of his work, and the collaboration did little to hinder either of their careers, both having since gained the number one spot for the first time in their own right. In between his two albums Calvin Harris has been busy writing and producing for other artists, contributing two tracks to Kylie Minogue’s latest album and having his own work sampled by Madonna on her latest ‘Sticky and Sweet’ world tour. A number of summer festival appearances later, including T in the Park and Glastonbury, and the Scots star is embarking on his own headlining tour of the UK, taking in cities across Scotland, including Aberdeen, Dundee and Glasgow, with his alternative DJ-infused live show.
