3 More To See: In Dundee – June 2026
This month it's time for the Book Festival, improv sensations Austentatious and two albums from Belle And Sebastian

One thing Scotland isn’t lacking is the ability to lay on excellent and occasionally idiosyncratic literary gatherings. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Melrose may appear to hog the limelight in this regard, but Dundee Book Festival (various venues, Friday 19–Sunday 21 June) is doing itself proud once again. Among those appearing this time around are Nicola Sturgeon, Debi Gliori, Graeme Armstrong, Zoe Venditozzi, Doug Johnstone and Jenni Fagan, while there’s also a celebration of 75 mischievous years of Dennis The Menace who first lived up to his name in The Beano back in 1951.
Talking of mischief, albeit of a more sedate brand, here comes Austentatious (Whitehall Theatre, Monday 29 June), a set of dashing gents and bold ladies who bring the works of Jane Austen back to life with their keen improvisational ways. Among the revolving cast are Joseph Morpurgo, Rachel Parris, Cariad Lloyd and Graham Dickson. If you are feeling sinister, go off and see a minister. Or, alternatively, relive the delicate mid 90s majesty of the first two Belle And Sebastian albums (Caird Hall, Saturday 20 June) as the band perform them in full: namely, Tigermilk and the one alluded to in the previous sentence.
