We Were Promised Jetpacks

Jarvis Cocker
Fri 12 Jun, 7pm, ABC, Glasgow, 0141 332 2232, £17.50
Currently going by just ‘Jarvis’ (who does he think he is, Madonna?), Cocker has moved on from Pulp and the solo stuff ain’t half bad.
Emiliana Torrini

Torrini tours her catchy brand of jingly-jangly folk pop - the perfect summer songs. New album to follow.
Malcolm Middleton
Fri 26 Jun, 8pm, Tolbooth, Stirling, 01786 274 000, £12
One half of Arab Strap and now miserablist in his own right, Middleton writes tenderly observed acoustic tunes.
Come On Gang
Wed 1 Jul, The Tunnels, Aberdeen, 01224 211 121, £5
This is power-pop without the mullets and shoulder pads. Come On Gang have a punkish edge and are utterly addictive.
The Cat Empire
Fri 10 Jul, 7pm, O2 Academy, Glasgow, 08444 772 000, £15
Trumpets, drums, percussion and Felix Riebl’s sleaze-infused vocals - it’s hip-hop one minute and jazz the next. In other words, don’t analyse just enjoy.
The Wilders

Tender little ditties with a real bluegrass edge, this Kansas City band are great live and you can’t help but jig along.
