Maccabees instore gig set for Edinburgh's Avalanche Records

The Maccabees are the latest act to perform at recently refurbished Edinburgh branch of cult record shop Avalanche. An instore gig by the upcoming South London band takes place at 5pm on Friday 1st May 2009 ahead of their show at Studio 24, Edinburgh later the same evening.
Avalanche records is Scotland's biggest independent record shop, with branches in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and has been trading for over 20 years. The 'Rough Trade of the North' counts Ian Rankin, Mercury Rev and Stewart Lee among its celebrity fans.
Recent changes to the Edinburgh branch on Cockburn Street have created a stage area at the rear of the store suitable for such instore gigs, with the recent Record Store Day on April 18th seeing performances by Edinburgh acts Broken Records, Withered Hand and Ex-Lion Tamer.
Avalanche also recently launched an albums club. Members receive a monthly package curated by the staff featuring a newly released album and a selection of promos and giveaways from upcoming Scottish artists.
