Gilded Balloon announces its biggest programme yet for Edinburgh Fringe 2019

With 240 shows and two brand spanking new venues, Gilded Balloon is raising the bar for this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Edinburgh Fringe might still be over three months away (106 days, not like we're counting), but the time for planning and hard decisions is now. The good folks over at Gilded Balloon have given us a taste of what they have in store for us this year, and they are spoiling us for choice. Tickets for 150 shows across all their venues are on sale now (with 90 more to be revealed in May).
You would think that every available space in the Scottish capital was already being used for one show or another, but Gilded Balloon is adding not one, but two new locations to their roster: Adam House and 179a Canongate, to be known for the month of August as Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose and Gilded Balloon at Old Tolbooth Market, respectively.
On the comedy front, several popular names are returning to Edinburgh this summer, and this is your chance to snag a ticket before everyone else. The star of Britain's Got Talent, Lost Voice Guy returns with his new show I'm Only In It for the Parking, which promises to be another sellout success. Tommy Tiernan, of Derry Girls fame, is back to the Debating Hall with Paddy Crazy Horse, while Jojo Sutherland debuts her first solo show in five years.
Konstantin Kisin is one of the comedy newcomers this Fringe (who you might remember from international headlines on his refusal to sign a 'safe space' contract last year), debuting his free speech inspired show Orwell That Ends Well. Other newbies include Esther Manito, Daisy Earl, Christopher KC, Sukh Ojla and Paralympic Gold Medalist Liam Malone.
The Fringe is not all about comedy, however, and Gilded Balloon also have offerings in the theatre department. An adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's Hughie with Phil Nichol and Mike McShane in the starring roles is in the books, with Fringe First winner Apphia Campbell's two highly popular productions, Woke and Black is the Colour of My Voice, also taking to the stage. Much like in the comedy sector, there is also space for new works, and Captivate Theatre will be busy with three productions: Gregory's Girl, Sister Act and Jekyll & Hyde.
With so much to choose from, you will surely find something to your taste from across the vast Gilded Balloon programme. The early bird gets the worm, as they say, so hurry and get your tickets, before disappointment comes knocking at your door.
