Wes Anderson, the director behind The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The Darjeeling Limited, is to direct and write a big screen animated version of Roald Dahl's classic children's story The Fantastic Mr Fox.

Expect a computer animated feature from Blue Sky Studios, which brought us Ice Age and the forthcoming Horton Hears A Who!, to be released in 2009.

The vocal talent will be provided by George Clooney, Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray.
