The Charlatans, The Whip and Paul Weller announce live dates

New gigs

The Charlatans are to play their first headline Scottish dates in several years in support of their new album You Cross My Path, which is free to download via the XFM website. They play Carling Academy on 20 May.

The Whip are the latest group to cross over rock and rave circles in considerable style and, with this in mind, have announced a pair of tours, one over 18s for ravers (taking in Aberdeen’s Tunnels on 27 March and King Tut’s, Glasgow on 28 March) while their over 14s rock tour comes to Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh, 7 May.

Jamie Liddell is the next name to be unveiled for Triptych. He plays Tramway, Glasgow, 25 April and Liquid Room, Edinburgh, 26 April.

The Kills parade their new long player, Midnight Boom, at a show at the Liquid Room, Edinburgh on 15 April and again at Glasgow’s Oran Mor on 16 April, while much underrated Scouse rock outfit I Am Kloot play ABC2 on 27 April.

Those of you who missed Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong on the NME Awards tour earlier this month can fill their boots with their frivolous indie twang at the Arches on 9 May.

Paul Weller is out on a tour of those towns less loved by regular hoary old rock cats soon. He plays Motherwell Concert Hall, 14 May and Dundee’s Caird Hall, 15 May.

Amy Macdonald has added a second date at Carling Academy, on 24 May while the similarly starry eyed 30 Seconds to Mars play Corn Exchange , Edinburgh on 9 May.

Tickets for 30 Seconds to Mars are on sale Monday while many of the others are available now at www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
