OK, so it’s patently obvious that Black Lips forgot to bone up on any of the many thousands of records which came along after the day ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ was released. That’s probably unfair; they’ve obviously listened to the odd bit of Velvet Underground if ‘Veni Vidi Vici’ is any judge, and when no one’s looking, they may well have a quick fiddle in the Showaddywaddy back catalogue (have a blast at ‘Bad Kids). Shameless pilfering from the aural archives hasn’t always been the most popular musical policy, but at least Black Lips take the heinous act of graverobbing and make it raucous fun.
