Matt Damon, Mark Knopfler, Elle Macpherson and Desmond Tutu have supported the chart topping duo Mattafix - Marlon Roudette and Preetesh Hirji - in a charity single project timed to coincide with the Global Day for Darfur on Sunday 16 September. The celebrities have given a series of personal introductions to the band's video, which was filmed in a refugee camp in Chad, near the border with Darfur.

Others involved include Turner prize-winning artist Chris Ofili, who produced artwork for the single, and Mick Jagger, who provided financial support for the video.

Mattafix is Marlon Roudette and Preetesh Hirji, who are known for their hit 'Big City Life'.

Roudette described the refugee camp where the video was shot: "It was unbelievable. We flew into Chad, thanks to Mick Jagger's kind support of the project, and before we knew it we were in the refugee camp.

"It is hard to describe the beauty of the people we met or the clear suffering they had endured. I hope the song goes some way to underline how much spirit and determination they have to rise above the terror and live."

Artist royalties for Living Darfur will go to Oxfam, Crisis Action and Save Darfur Coalition.

The single Living Darfur is available to download on Monday.
