Scottish theatre director to head Norwegian Opera

A theatre director from Glasgow has been appointed to take control of Norwegian Opera, just as the company moves to a new opera house in Oslo.

Paul Curran, who performed with Scottish Ballet in his early career and has staged performances across the world, has signed a five year contract.

The 42-year-old, who is originally from Easterhouse, said: “Norway and Scotland have much in common, both nationally and culturally.

“I couldn’t have wished for a more exciting challenge, artistically as well as personally. I look forward to bringing the Norwegian Opera to a new level in the world’s most beautiful opera house.”
