A rapper has been signed by the music label EMI after his song about life as a Turkish kebab seller in France won a massive online following. Yilmaz Karaman, who has the musical alter ego Lil’Maaz, has registered 600,000 online hits since June for his rap inviting Parisians to eat kebabs. The video for Mange du Kebab shows Lil’Maaz singing lyrics, including ‘here is the kingdom of grease’ and ‘our place has Oriental colours that will stay on your clothes’, while slicing kebab meat on the spit. The 27-year-old has already made a Turkish version but said he plans to carry on part-time at the restaurant. “I love my kebabs”, he added.
