The Barfly’s Fifth Birthday

5 Reasons to go see
1 Sergeant It’s a five-night celebration to celebrate five years of Glasgow’s favourite nationally-franchised rock and indie venue, featuring gigs from Wednesday to Sunday and club nights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fife indie-rockers Sergeant kick things of with a headline slot on the Wednesday.
2 Drive By Argument Next it’s the turn of hotly-tipped Ayrshire electro-emo mob Drive By Argument (pictured), whose show is the very definition of youthful dynamism. But the weekend’s only just getting started . . .
3 Holly Golightly A good-time set of barroom lullabies and honky tonk blues from special guest star and ex-Headcoatee Holly Golightly, featuring her band The Brokeoffs, support from local prospects Figure 5, Popup and The Ronelles, and the Barf’s regular Funhouse club afterwards.
4 The Hussys Femme-fronted pop gold, featuring ex-Supernaturals frontman James McColl. Get there early for other local acts like Bricolage and Help, She Can’t Swim and stay late for the Antics club night.
5 Unkle Bob Finally, a nice, easy Sunday night comedown featuring the really rather lush alternative country sounds of Unkle Bob, backed by How To Swim, Down The Tiny Steps and more. Stay on, if your liver can handle it, for the weekend-busting club night Revolver.
Barfly, Glasgow, Wed 2-Sun 6 May.
