Idlewild announce 20th anniversary tour of The Remote Part: how to get tickets

Idlewild have announced a tour and a reissue to mark 20 years since the release of their seminal third studio album, The Remote Part. Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10am on Friday 27 May.

The vinyl reissue of The Remote Part will be released on Friday 15 July, exactly 20 years to the day of its release, and is available to pre-order now

Frontman Roddy Woomble said, 'Simply speaking, The Remote Part is the most popular, commercially successful record that Idlewild ever made.

‘None of our other records achieved that level of popularity. So it’s the defining record for the group.’

Last month, the band announced a one-off gig in Ullapool where they would perform The Remote Part in full. Today’s announcement expands that announcement into a full-scale seven date tour, alongside an appearance at the Connect Festival on Monday 29 August.

We spoke to Woomble last year as he embarked on the promo trail for the band’s last album Interview MusicHe said, 'Music is one of the artforms where it doesn't have to mean something but it can still mean everything; it makes you feel. A lot of my friends who write music have the same sort of feeling. It just sort of happens. There's something quite magical about it.' Read the full interview here.
