brownbear, the musical collective led by singer-songwriter Matt Hickman, have released their latest single ‘Close Call’. 

The laidback tune finds brownbear in pleasingly familiar territory, exploring the intersection between jangly indie and smooth soul with a dose of melancholic nostalgia thrown in for good measure. Expect it to form part of an as-yet-untitled album set for release in 2023. 

You can catch Hickman and his band at a series of pay what you cangigs across Scotland this month. Hickman, ‘I believe music is for everyone. That’s why I decided to make as many shows on this acoustic tour as possible “pay what you can”. 

‘It gives the opportunity at a difficult financial time for us all to still be able to enjoy an event. Music is a great escape and also an amazing way to connect with communities. I’m looking forward to talking to people about their love of music while sharing some of the new material along the way.’
