Siobhan Wilson is kicking off 2023 with the brand new single ‘Quand La Vie Fait Mal’, a soothing slice of ethereal bliss that’ll ease you into the new year.

Released under her own Suffering Fools label, DIY artist Wilson wrote the song in collaboration with the French chanteuse Clementine March, who contributed lyrics.

Wilson says, ‘This lyric-music collaboration with Clementine March was so satisfying, as our working process was like a really smooth yet very fast-flowing river. Without stress or over-analysing, this song collaboration very naturally carried itself into the world, which for me is a rare writer match.

‘I was totally convinced from receiving the first line of the lyrics from Clementine that my challenge would be to carry some of the weight of existence from the words into a new song, transporting and supporting the lyrics in doing so. From the page into music, this song represents subjects which are very important to me such as our place in the world and meaning of life.’

Wilson’s voice is always goose pimple-inducing, and here she’s made the aural equivalent of a warm bath, equal parts relaxing and meditative. Watch the video for ‘Quand La Vie Fait Mal’ below.
