Elizabeth Price SLOW DANS exhibition opens 2023 GoMA programme

The Scottish premier of Turner Prize-winning British artist Elizabeth Price's ambitious installation SLOW DANS opens on Friday 27 January in Glasgow's Gallery Of Modern Art (GoMA).
Running until Sunday 14 May, the exhibition consists of three videos displayed across ten large screens: KOHL, FELT TIP, and THE TEACHERS. Each one explores key moments in human history across three time stages, 'a fictional past, parallel present, and imagined future'.

Involving elements of architecture, archeology and technology, she explores the sociological shifts in gender politics through time, as well as key labour movements, from coal mining and the industrial revolution to women entering the workforce.
The second video in the series, FELT TIP, will be inducted into GoMA's permanent collection following SLOW DANS' closure. In this video, Price uses mens ties as a symbol to hone in on a specific period between the 1970s and 90s when more women began entering corporate spaces.
Elizabeth Price is renowned around the world for her video creations and won the Turner Prize in 2012 for her installation The Woolworths Choir of 1979.
