As chart-topping Scottish pop sensation Lewis Capaldi prepares to release his second album in May, a new documentary following its creation is being released exclusively on Netflix on Wednesday 5 April.

The singer invited a small group of fans to the Everyman cinema in Glasgow for an intimate screening of the film, titled How I'm Feeling Now. Greeting the crowd for an in-person Q&A, Capaldi candidly touched on how this film took a very different turn during its four-year filming time. Only briefly touching on the glamorous world of pop stardom, the documentary follows the singer's rise to fame, alongside the mental health struggles and an unexpected Tourette's diagnosis that followed.

'I don't really know much about anxiety or stress or depression or Tourette's or any of these things. I didn't really know all of this was going on in my life or to what degree it was colouring my life. I didn't realise how much my life was consumed by the things in this film. The first time I watched it I was surprised there wasn't a death at the end. It was a bit of a wake-up call,' he said in conversation with Andy Knox.

Sam Bridger, Head Of Music Film at Pulse Films, who created the documentary with Netflix, added: 'This started out as a film about the process of creating the "difficult second album", but ended up being an astonishingly unguarded portrait of the pressures of fame on young shoulders, exploring one of the great conversations of our age – mental health. Such unfiltered access to one of the biggest stars on the planet is testament to the bravery of Lewis and his team who invited us into their world, and the incredible trust and storytelling instincts of director Joe Pearlman, producer Alice Rhodes and the production team.’

With new single 'Forget Me' soaring to number one, and album number two Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent set for release on Friday 19 May, Capaldi appears to be successfully emerging from the rut captured in How I'm Feeling Now. 'I look forward to the album coming out and people hearing it,' he says. 'I can't wait until that pressure valve has been released a little bit. And I'm just looking forward to another year of being alive on this rock we call Earth.'

Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now is out on Netflix from Wednesday 5 April. Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent is released by EMI Records on Friday 19 May.
