AROUND TOWN

Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre is currently playing host to the UK’s first ever multi charity shop Charity Super.Mkt (until Sunday 27 August) where you can rifle through a large, curated collection of quality second-hand fashion and accessories.
Readers rejoice! This year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival (until Monday 28 August) continues with events from Annie Macmanus, Sara Pascoe and James Kelman taking place at Edinburgh College Of Art across the weekend.
Boasting specimens from around the world, Dundee’s D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum (Friday 18 August) is a treasure trove of curios that can usually only be visited by appointment but throws its doors open over in the summer every Friday afternoon.
MUSIC

Scotland’s conference of hip-hop Pitch (Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 August) returns with speakers and an artist showcase representing a diverse mix of what the scene has to offer. Live music venue Saint Luke’s, creative hub Many Studios and Drygate Brewery are the settings.
If raves are more your bag then SWG3 in Glasgow are playing host to STREETrave Summer All Dayer (Saturday 19 August). Featuring a summer terrace and house DJs including K-Klass, Slipmatt, Danny Rampling and Fat Tony, it promises to be epic.
For those wanting to get stuck into the musical action, then the Edinburgh Fringe’s Choir! Choir! Choir! (until Sunday 27 August) should have you sorted. It’s a show where the audience is the star. Just rock up and they’ll have you singing in harmony in no time.
STAGE

Acclaimed show Bangers (until Sunday 27 August) is one not to miss. Set against a backdrop of urban London, it features original tracks inspired by early noughties and present-day R&B and garage. Catch it at Edinburgh’s Roundabout @ Summerhall.
Winning a five-star Fringe review from us in the process, Marjolein Robertson: Marj (until Monday 28 August) brings her scintillating, frank and extremely ambitious new stand-up show to Edinburgh staple The Stand.
If you’re looking for some comedy outside of Edinburgh this weekend, then Perth Concert Hall will be playing host to Scotland’s ‘boldest, sexiest, funniest and (ahem) most humble comedian’ when Gary Faulds (Friday 18 August) swings by with his new show Frontier.
SCREEN

Following the disappointment of The Flash, DC hope to do better with the rather less hyped Blue Beetle. The 14th instalment in the DCEU features Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) as the franchise’s first Latino lead, with Susan Sarandon on villain duties.
Taking an irreverent approach to Armageddon, BBC sitcom Henpocalypse! has just dropped on iPlayer. The brainchild of Caroline Moran (Raised By Wolves, Hullraisers), it sees the antics of a typically rowdy hen-do get derailed when the gang are plunged into end times.
Love him or hate him, it’s hard to ignore heavyweight champ Tyson Fury. He’s now the star of his own reality show At Home With The Furys, which introduces us to his wife Paris and six kids, and sees him open up about his demons.

Colorhythm Painting Show (until Saturday 19 August) sees Japanese artist Colorhythm Risa use her hands, body and sponges to apply colour across a canvas in a mesmerising fusion of art and entertainment. Catch her this weekend at theSpace @ Niddry St as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.
