AROUND TOWN

Kelvin Hall Family Day (Saturday 11 November) sees the cultural and sporting venue celebrating its seventh birthday with an afternoon of free events. Themed around nature, wildlife and sports, it’ll feature craft activities, a pedal-powered cinema and games and tasters from Glasgow Sports.
Get prepped for Christmas by swinging by the Tea Green Festive Market (Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 November) this weekend, where you’ll be able to pick up some original gifts from the talented exhibitors. Glasgow’s The Burrell Collection plays host to an array of prints, ceramics, jewellery and more.
Edinburgh’s Whiski Rooms have put together a novel experience for you in their Whisky & Chocolate Tasting (Friday 10 November) which pairs carefully selected whiskies with premium Edinburgh-made chocolate.
MUSIC

Musical fans are in for a real treat when London Concertante takes you on a tour of some of your favourite shows in West End Musicals By Candlelight (Friday 10 November), including numbers from Aladdin, West Side Story and Hamilton. St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh provides the atmospheric setting.
Reviving some old-school Europop and dance acts, Biggest 90s / 00s Disco (Saturday 11 November) is all about the good vibes and awesome visuals, as it brings Vengaboys, 2 Unlimited, N Trance and more back to the stage. Glasgow’s OVO Hydro is the spectacular setting.
Also at the OVO Hydro and hoping to replicate the phenomenal solo success of his One Direction bandmate, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson (Sunday 12 November) is back out on tour following the release of his second album, Faith In The Future, late last year.
STAGE

One of the sensational stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK hits the road for her first ever solo theatre show in Baga Chipz: Material Girl (Sunday 12 November), a blend of singing, dancing and comedy that’ll be taking Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket by storm this weekend.
Opera lovers will want to check out Scottish Opera: The Barber Of Seville (Saturday 11 November) at Festival Theatre Edinburgh, a riotous, English language production of Rossini’s beloved comedy from Sir Thomas Allen that’s full of speedy patter and joyous arias.
Over at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal, Eddie Izzard will be revisiting the highlights of her 35-year career in comedy in a show full of surreal fun in Eddie Izzard – The Remix (until Saturday 11 November). She’s also this month’s Q&A guest.
SCREEN

Bagging the prestigious Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes (as well as that all-important five-star review from us) Anatomy Of A Fall is a fascinating courtroom drama from French director Justine Triet. The great Sandra Hüller plays an author whose life is placed under the microscope when her husband plunges to his death.
The Norwegian writer-director of Sick Of Myself, Kristoffer Borgli, is at the helm of Dream Scenario, a hilarious, wonderfully leftfield comedy starring Nicolas Cage as a biology professor who becomes a global sensation when he starts popping up in people’s dreams.
Expect super shenanigans in spades when Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel teams up with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Iman Vellani’s Ms Marvel for The Marvels, the 33rd film in the MCU, directed by Candyman’s Nia DaCosta.
PODCASTS

Billed as a radical retelling of our nation’s story, Philippa Gregory’s Normal Women is an eight-part podcast that uncovers the history of women across nine centuries – from the rioters to the power mad.
Class Of ’88 With Will Smith looks at the twelve months that gave rise to hip-hop superstars and styles. Narrated by Smith and containing interviews with some of the era’s other major players, it covers everything from Public Enemy to The Fresh Prince.
The big tech podcast turns its attention to Twitter (X) in Land Of The Giants: The Twitter Fantasy as Vox senior correspondent Peter Kafka investigates the platform one year after Elon Musk took over, reflecting on its past and pondering its future.

Now on display in Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s Hawthornvale Space is Aimée Finlay: A Thurifer Left (until Wednesday 31 January). Produced using ESW’s foundry, Finlay reproduces and transforms sculpted replicas of thuribles – vessels used in the Christian liturgy to burn incense.
Edinburgh’s Open Eye Gallery is the setting for Ann Ross RSW: By Leaves We Live (until Saturday 18 November) in which Ross has painted her observations of the world around us, its changing seasons, and flora and fauna.
In Ashes On My Fingertips (until Sunday 26 November), now showing at Birnam Arts, internationally acclaimed artist Yunior Aguiar Perdomo interrogates the experience of living in Perthshire as a migrant in his first major UK solo exhibition.
