Celtic Connections readies for its 2024 edition this January

The UK’s leading celebration of Celtic music will feature Brìghde Chaimbeul, John Francis Flynn, Rosie H Sullivan and more

Celtic Connections readies for its 2024 edition this January

The long-running festival Celtic Connections is gearing up for the launch of its 2024 edition, which will run from Thursday 18 January–Sunday 4 February. Tickets for all shows are on sale now. 

Highlights from the programme include trad musician Brìghde Chaimbeul, whose latest album Carry Them With Us was nominated for a 2024 Scottish Album Of The Year Award. She’ll be joined by Celtic composers Maxwell Quartet for a showcase entitled Thar Farraige (Over Sea), which will feature a breadth and depth of musical styles when they present their work The Mackintosh Church on Saturday 3 February.

Jembaa Groove

Hailing from across the pond is Wild Child, an Americana act from Kelsey Wilson and Alexander Beggins, who’ll perform from their decade-long back catalogue at Glasgow’s CCA on Friday 19 January. Other international artists on the bill include Berlin jazz and soul performer Jembaa Groove at Oran Mòr on Saturday 20 January, Kyiv world music quartet DakhaBrakha at The Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 20 January, Breton musicians Skolvan Glasgow Royal Concert Hall’s Strathclyde Suite on Friday 19 January and more. 

In local waters is Scottish star Rosie H Sullivan, an acclaimed Edinburgh-based musician who’ll performs at the CCA on Friday 26 January, as well as Irish folk singer John Francis Flynn at Drygate Brewery on Saturday 20 January, folk/dub mash-up An Dannsa Dub at Oran Mòr on Saturday 27 January and more.
