Ocean Colour Scene, The View and more announced for Edinburgh Summer Sessions 2024

Edinburgh Summer Sessions has announced a show for 2024 headlined by Brummie indie rockers Ocean Colour Scene (OCS) at Royal Highland Showgrounds on Saturday 17 August. Tickets for the festival go on sale at 10am on Friday 15 March.

They’ll be joined on the line-up by Embrace, Alabama 3, Reverend And The Makers, Republica, and Dundee’s own The View.

OCS came to prominence during the heady Britpop days of the mid-1990s, following the success of their second album, Moseley Shoals. Folk of a certain (middle) age will remember their single ‘The Riverboat Song’ as the anthemic introduction to a roster of invariably misbehaving guests on Chris Evans’s late-90s Channel 4 entertainment show TFI Friday.

Dundonians The View entered the music scene around a decade later and their debut album, Hats Off To The Buskers, reached number one in 2007. Last summer, their lead singer, Kyle Falconer, co-wrote ‘a musical about post-natal depression’ which we rated. And Sopranos fans will recognise Alabama 3’s ‘Woke Up This Morning’ as the theme tune to the culturally dominant gangster series.

Tickets for Edinburgh Summer Sessions go on sale at 10am on Friday 15 March.
