Dance music events coming to Royal Highland Centre this spring

There’s much more to the Royal Highland Centre (RHC) than its world famous annual Royal Highland Show. In fact, the vast Ingliston venue has played host to countless gigs and music festivals over the past half century, including Trick, EH1 and Summer Sessions. Due to its unique location on the outskirts of Edinburgh, it can boast the seemingly contradictory position of being both remote (thus perfect as an authentically rambunctious rave venue) yet eminently reachable. And its numerous spaces, indoors and out, can accommodate crowd sizes that traditional city venues could only dream of.

Easily accessible via public transport, including several bus routes, the Ingliston Park & Ride tram stop and shuttle buses from two nearby railway stations, the Royal Highland Centre is increasingly making its name as the top destination for electronic music fans. Here’s two events taking place in April to help cement that position.

Rezerection

From humble beginnings as a club in the North East of England, Rezerection quickly adopted the RHC as its spiritual home in 1991. Still going strong, this year’s extravaganza, The Homecoming, offers 12 solid hours of old and new skool rave music across five arenas. American DJ Joey Beltram, part of the original line-up, features alongside numerous international headliners and more than 100 acts in total, including Ultrabeat, Ian Van Dahl, Frankie Bones, Angerfist and Valhalla.

Rezerection is on Saturday 6 April.

Terminal V

Terminal V started out in a single warehouse on Easter Sunday 2017 and has since grown to become Scotland’s largest electronic music dance event. It has radically expanded to five stages at the RHC (including the outdoor Greenhouse) and it now takes place twice a year at Easter and Halloween. Welcoming some of the biggest techno, electronica and dance DJs on the scene, last year it was voted Best Festival at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards. This spring, the line-up features a plethora of top acts, including Hannah Laing, blk., Daddy Trance, 999999999 and – fresh from our Hot 100 guide to the best Scottish cultural players of 2023 – Frankie Elyse.
