Galleries announced for second year of NT Art Month
Major gallery spaces across Edinburgh will play host to unique exhibitions in this celebration of art across Edinburgh’s New Town
NT Art Month, a celebration of gallery spaces and artists, has unveiled detailed plans for its second edition, taking place at a host of independent art galleries across Edinburgh from Thursday 6–Sunday 30 June.
Focusing on the vibrant art scene in Edinburgh’s New Town, 2024 NT Art Month will welcome returning galleries alongside new initiatives and partners, including Art In Healthcare, a charity based in Edinburgh which works across Scotland providing engaging and impactful creative programmes to support and improve mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Participating galleries include &Gallery, which will present an exhibition by Emily Moore of multi-layered landscape paintings; The Scottish Gallery, which will host Amongst The Trees, a curation of indoor and outdoor sculpture celebrating the work of Scottish-based sculptor Andrea Geile; Powderhall Bronze Editions, which will be exhibiting selected bronze sculptures cast at Powderhall Bronze fine art foundry; The Fine Art Society, which will be exhibiting Gerald Laing: Myth & Muse – The Cult Of Celebrity; and Open Eye Gallery, which will show two concurrent exhibitions from artists Kirsty Wither and Chris Bushe RSW.
Also participating is Atelier Gallery, which will present The Importance Of Being Small, an exhibition of small paintings; Watson Gallery, which will play host to Summer Favourites, an eclectic mix of artworks from Watson’s most popular artists; Harvey & Woodd, which will showcase wildlife artist David Cemmick’s contemporary animal sculpture; and Heriot Gallery, which will present two successive shows highlighting the eclectic styles and evolution of figurative art and portraiture. Finally, Pauliina Marjanen will display her work in a pop-up exhibition at Good Brothers Wine Bar.
Angus Kerr, Head of Scotland & Northern Ireland at NT’s lead sponsor Rathbones, said, ‘We're excited to be playing a part in shining a light on the incredible local artistic talent that can be found on the doorstep in Edinburgh's New Town and supporting its fantastic local art galleries. We hope that local people, whether they are seasoned visitors to art galleries or have never stepped into one before, take the opportunity to come together and enjoy a shared cultural experience of walking the streets to see the artwork on display as part of the festival. We're delighted to be supporting such an important community initiative and helping to make art more accessible to everyone here.’
NT Art Month will take place from Thursday 6–Sunday 30 June.
