Something For The Weekend: Frankie Boyle, Rylan Clark, Riley Keough and more
In this week's round-up of cultural happenings across the central belt, we're chatting book festivals, facing terrible teens with Pixar's latest CGI outing, and putting on a show of our own

MUSIC

ListLive’s latest celebration of great tunes and intimate venues takes place this week in Edinburgh. ListLive At Lost In Leith (Thursday 13 June) is an affordably priced event playing host to a trio of outstanding up-and-comers: folk rockers Urvanovic, Kim Grant’s latest project, Raveloe, and woozy electronica artists maniatrix.
The provocatively named English post-punk rockers Fat White Family (Sunday 16 June) are out on a UK and European tour promoting their fourth studio album, Forgiveness Is Yours, which adds a touch of slickness to their characteristically scuzzy sound. Catch them at The Garage, Glasgow.
Taking place in Errol Park, Perthshire, in an estate overlooking the River Tay, this year’s Solas Festival (Friday 14 – Sunday 16 June) brings together music, arts and ideas across three stimulating days. Amongst those performing are Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, An Dannsa Dub and Joshua Burnside.
STAGE

Out on tour for the very first time, Caroline O’Donoghue brings her hit podcast Sentimental Garbage (Sunday 16 June) to the stage. She’ll be discussing the popular culture society loves to hate in conversation with a special guest. Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket hosts.
SCREEN

The original was way more psychologically insightful than the majority of family fare, so Inside Out 2 has a lot to live up to. Thankfully it delivers as it takes protagonist Riley into puberty and adds a quartet of new emotions into the mix.
We caught it at Sundance Film Festival: London and now the sublime Sasquatch Sunset is out on general release. This hilariously funny and often moving dramedy follows a pack of the eponymous creatures in the Californian wilderness. Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg are the unrecognisable stars.
Meanwhile, this week sees the return of three major small-screen players: The Boys on Prime and Netflix’s Bridgerton are both out now; with House Of The Dragon available on Sky Atlantic / Now TV from Sunday.
