Grace Jarvis: Oh! The Horrors! comedy review: Lovely tale of everyday quirks

Take a look into the marvellous world of Grace Jarvis, a self-styled ‘quasi’ or Kiwi-Aussie, who after a very long plane ride has chosen to make her comedy home at the Fringe for the third time. With a glint in her eye and a ladylike ensemble, Jarvis gives us the opportunity to hear a playful Gen Z take on the current culture of shouting into the void and hoping someone agrees.

Making her knowledge of international animal populations seamlessly blend into being mansplained as the world burns down around her, Jarvis mixes the eccentricities of multiple cultures into a beautiful tale of everyday quirks and the fascinating lives of others. Jarvis’ ability to win over an audience is only matched by her capacity to live life to the fullest, fool police dogs at airports, and say the Aussie, Kiwi and British terms for ‘swimming costume’ in tandem.

With a knack for storytelling and a head full of the magically mundane, this is an hour of sparkling and sophisticated comedy. Jarvis’ bold and unabashedly neurodivergent stories of bunnies, medical conditions and badly sold classic films is full of fun with a side of wicked whimsy.

Grace Jarvis: Oh! The Horrors!, Underbelly George Square, until 25 August, 5.50pm.
