Our top picks for Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2025

This year’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival is crammed with more than 550 shows. To help visitors navigate this teeming roster, we’ve plucked 15 shows from their listings and grouped them into broad categories. No matter what you’re into, there’ll definitely be something below to pique your interest.

Podcast fans

Dane Buckley & Daniel Foxx: Welcome To Hell Live
Buckley (‘the world's only Irish, Indian, gay comedian’) and Foxx (comedian and author of Bedtime Stories For Privileged Children) judge outrageous confessions. Expect plenty of audience interaction in this live show of their hit podcast.
Òran Mór, Saturday 29 March, 8pm.

Material, Girl Live Podcast Feat. Fern Brady and Alison Spittle
Susan Riddell and Amanda Dwyer showcase some of the best female comedians on the circuit. In this show, they’re joined by comedian and author of Strong Female Character, Fern Brady, and Irish comedian and actor Alison Spittle.
Òran Mór, Monday 17 March, 7.30pm.

Here Comes The Guillotine LIVE
A chance to see a live version of the hit podcast from Frankie Boyle, Susie McCabe and Christopher Macarthur-Boyd. Expect topical discussions, dark diversions and outrageous jokes as the triumvirate put the world to rights.
SEC Armadillo, Tuesday 18 March, 7.30pm.

Big names

Fern Brady: I Gave You Milk To Drink
With a Netflix special under her belt, the Taskmaster breakout and best-selling author is rapidly making her mark as one of the biggest names in comedy. This is another chance to see a show that we awarded four stars.
King’s Theatre, Sunday 23 March, 8pm.

Paul Black: All Sorts
The sketch comedian and nominee of Sir Billy Connolly’s Spirit Of Glasgow Award has earned more than half a billion views online. All Sorts mixes stand-up with sketches, old characters and new.
King’s Theatre, Saturday 22 March, 8.30pm.

Felicity Ward: I’m Exhausting!
Veteran Aussie comic Felicity Ward is back for her first national tour in more than half a decade. Now a bona-fide TV star thanks to her turn as Hannah Howard in the Australian version of The Office, Ward presents a two-hour catch up on her busy life, including the recent birth of her child.
Òran Mór, Sunday 16 March, 7.30pm.

TV stars

The Horne Section’s Hit Show
‘Little’ Alex Horne and his merry band (‘five outstanding musicians and one non-musical stand-up’) have delighted audiences on The Last Leg and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and even hosted Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Catch them before the frontman lets it all go to his head.
King’s Theatre, Tuesday 25 March, 7.30pm.

Darren Connell: My Name Is Darren Connell And This Is My Self-Tape
Glasgow comedian Darren Connell is probably best known as the hapless Bobby in Scot Squad. He’s gone back to his roots in this, ‘a journey of his surreal dark madness, with a comical twist’.
King’s Theatre, Thursday 27 March, 7.30pm.

Justin Moorhouse: The Greatest Performance Of My Lifetime
It’s been a while since a tiger-faced Justin Moorhouse entertained audiences as Young Kenny in the cult Channel 4 comedy Phoenix Nights. Catch his first show since 2022.
Stand Comedy Club, Tuesday 18 March, 7pm.

Darren Connell

Scottish comedy

Larry Dean: Dodger
Three-time Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominee Larry Dean brings his wonderful, heartfelt show about his grandma (or ‘Nanny’ as he calls her) to his hometown. Dean’s a wonderfully charming performer and we loved this show.
Barrowland Ballroom, Sunday 16 March, 8.30pm.

Marjolein Robertson: O
The second of Marjolein’s trilogy of shows, O recounts the story of a health condition that nearly killed her. We thought it was a very worthy follow-up to 2023’s Marj.
Òran Mór, Wednesday 19 March, 8pm.

Craig Hill: I’ve Been Sitting On This For A While!
The cheeky, unfiltered and much-loved veteran returns to Glasgow with his new show. Hill has been twice nominated for the Sir Billy Connolly Spirit Of Glasgow Award.
Òran Mór, Friday 14 March, 7.30pm.

Rising stars

Robin Grainger: Refurb
In 2022, Robin Grainger made headline news by attracting just a single audience member (an ‘audient’) to his show. While the only way was up, Grainger has built a strong fanbase with his relatable, observational material.
Stand Comedy Club, Tuesday 11 March, 8.30pm.

Connor Burns: 1994
Last year was a big one for Connor Burns, who made a splash with his third solo show. This could be your last chance to see him before he makes it *really* big.
King’s Theatre, from Friday 14 and Saturday 15 March, 9pm.

Women In Progress: Ifrah & Sophie
A chance to see two potential comedy stars of the future, as Edinburgh’s Ifrah Qureshi, and Glasgow’s Sophie Rose McCabe try out new material on this special double-bill.
The Old Hairdresser’s, Saturday 15 March, 2.30pm.
