Will Smith has announced a music tour of the UK for this August. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on Friday 21 March. Scroll to the bottom of this article for a detailed list of his UK shows. 

The tour comes in support of Smith’s new album, Based On A True Story, set for release on Friday 28 March, and marks another step on the comeback trail for an Oscar-winning actor who’s largely remained out of the limelight since his verbal and physical assault of Chris Rock live onstage at the 2022 Academy Awards. The incident led to Smith being banned from attending the Oscars for ten years. He has since returned to acting with Bad Boys: Ride Or Die in 2024, which grossed $404.2 million at the box office. 

The lead single for the album, ‘Beautiful Scars’, directly addresses the Oscars incident. On it, Smith raps, ‘Did my dirt/Made it hurt worse/Went to church feeling cursed/Worked on myself/Kintsugi first/Couldn't tell I've been through hell on Earth.'

Based On A True Story may represent a desire to return to the well of his commercially successful period of the 90s, when he scored a number of hit singles including ‘Boom! Shake The Room’, ‘Summertime’, ‘Men In Black’ and ‘Wild Wild West’. His last album Lost And Found, was released in 2005.
