My Bloody Valentine announce first UK headline shows in more than a decade
Shoegaze’s most important band will hit venues in Manchester, London and Glasgow this year

My Bloody Valentine have announced a run of three arena-sized shows across the UK, their first in more than a decade. Tickets for the performances go on sale at 10am on Friday 4 April. Scroll to the bottom of this article for a detailed list of the band’s UK shows.
Arguably the most genre-defining act of shoegaze’s heyday, My Bloody Valentine made their indelible mark on music with the pugnacious two-hander Isn’t Anything in 1988 and Loveless in 1991, harnessing abrasive noise and wispy vocals to deftly balance experimentation with traditional songcraft.
By the middle of the 90s, they had all but dissolved when multiple members left and songwriter Kevin Shields began to suffer from a severe case of writer’s block (he later delivered 60 hours of material to his label Island Records, although nothing from this period has ever surfaced).
The Irish-English rock act made a surprise return in 2008 with numerous live performances, before releasing their third album m b v in 2013. Rumours of new material have circulated since then. Perhaps this new tour is a signal that album four is almost ready.
Starting at Manchester’s Aviva Studios on Monday 24 November, MBV will then perform at OVO Wembley Arena in London on Tuesday 25 November and OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday 27 November.
