48 Hour Film Project gets underway
On Friday May 16 at 7pm, filmmakers from across the UK will convene in Edinburgh’s Cameo Cinema to draw a character, prop, line of dialogue and a genre from a hat. They will then have just 48 hours to make an original movie from scratch using these elements.
The filmmakers are competing in The Edinburgh 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) as part of the world’s largest timed-film competition for their chance to win Avid Media Composer software for Mac and PC, the industry standard in digital video editing which normally retails for £1,822.
All films will have a special screening at The Cameo at 9pm on both Tuesday May 20 and Wednesday May 21. "The Cameo has a history of supporting people with imagination and a drive to work in film,” says the cinema’s General Manager Ian Hoey.
The winner of the Best Director prize will receive Glasgow Media Access Centre (GMAC) Membership and discounted equipment hire from Progressive Broadcast whilst winner of Best Writer will receive Cameo Membership. Further prizes will be awarded in 15 additional categories.
All films will be judged by Paul Dale, Film Editor at The List, and Ian Hoey.
