5 great pizza places in Glasgow
Our TipLists suggest the places worth knowing about in different themes, categories and locations. This month, we revisit one of the hottest, bubbliest, crustiest topics around: who makes the best pizza in Glasgow?

Anxious Pete’s
25 Kent Street
This no-frills slice shop in the middle of the Barras area does marvellous NY-style pizza. The dough is pre-fermented, giving a moreish depth: charred, chewy, perfectly sitting between crisp and foldable, finished with fresh parmesan. Play Mortal Kombat on the retro arcade machine while you wait.
Caesar’s Social
2 Clarkston Road
Neapolitan-ish pizza in a neighborhood spot where plants, candles and mismatched furniture mingle with the smell of baking dough. Toppings embrace both Scottish and Italian ingredients: we’re talking the likes of ndjua sausage, pickled chillis, roast pineapple and Cora Linn cheese.
Errol’s Hot Pizza
379 Victoria Road
In this town, Errol’s is the benchmark for thin and crispy. Vigorously seasoned pizza stamps all over your tastebuds in the best way possible. The White Pie, with mild gorgonzola, chestnut mushrooms, chives and cream, or good old Italian sausage, is a very worthy consideration. BYOB too.
Sear’s Pizza
8 Chancellor Street, 4 John Street & 5 Skirving Street
The balance of bendable slice/classic flavour combos/excellent prices means Sear’s is the closest thing you’ll get to a classic NY slice shop in Glasgow (they’re also in Edinburgh). Two modern classics from the Big Apple are the standouts: mushroom and smoked mozzarella, and the Sears which features vodka sauce and pesto.
Sub Rosa
Unit 34, 147 Drakemire Drive & Inn Deep, 445 Great Western Road
It’s worth making the trip to the original spot in a Castlemilk industrial estate for this Detroit-style pizza with a majestic cheese climb and a unique sesame crust. But Sub Rosa are also at Inn Deep, doing New Haven-style pizza with appropriately burnt-yet-bubbly edges and flavour combos like birria beef with caramelised onion.
