5 To See at Terminal V Halloween Trilogy

Terminal V has become a welcome fixture on the Royal Highland Centre calendar, invading its warehouses for teeth-juddering techno, scrungy electronica and dance music with enough heavy bass to make yer poor ma’s pacemaker explode (that last claim is not scientifically verifiable).

The same will be true of the Terminal V Halloween Trilogy, a slasher rave that, unlike most horror threequels, promises to be an incredible weekend of audiovisual freneticism. As we prepare to head to this blood-soaked blowout, taking place from Friday 27-Sunday 29 October, here are the five acts we’ll be making sure to catch this weekend.

Aisha

Offering seizure-baiting techno more hyperactive than an eight-year-old on a Red Bull/Lucozade/legally redacted substance rush, Glasgow-born DJ Aisha is perfect ‘dance until you’re in a trance’ material. A set from her is pure propulsion, constant four-four beats thudding beneath noise samples and skittering synths. Listen to her HÖR Berlin set below.

BLK.

Not so much an assault on the senses as a full-blown GBH conviction, Ireland’s moustachioed BLK. is a hardcore proposition. His drumbeats have the power and threat of thunderclaps, the kind of heavy thud that could shake a warehouse to near collapse. ‘HARD DANCE’ is how his Soundcloud describes his brand of noise terrorism (the capitals letters are his own styling) and we can’t think of a more apt description. BLK.’s relentless hammering of beats earned him a wild crowd at spring’s edition of Terminal V; don’t be surprised if he approaches his Halloween set with the same degree of controlled chaos.

999999999

The 999999999 lads are riding high right after a sellout headline show at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, and this DJing duos blend of mid-2000s techno and accessible yet labyrinthine techno has earned them a big fanbase on the global club circuit. With a pace that won’t let up, this’ll be a guaranteed showstopper. Check out their Boiler Room session below.

ADIEL

With a Friday Guest Mix on Mary Ann Hobbs 6Music show under her belt, ADIEL’s brand of techno bliss is teetering on the cusp of the mainstream. Thudding drums and stabs of noise define her sound, with climaxes that build to a chaotic frenzy. Her love of rave culture started in the Italian underground club scene, and that blissed-out sense of anarchy is evident everywhere in her wild live shows. Watch her set from last year's Stone Techno Festival below.

Nina Kraviz

Russian DJ, music producer and singer Nina Kraviz is an old hand on the club scene, earning major residencies at clubs across the world since 2008. Her sound is about as close to pop as this list gets, Kraviz’s voice giving a melodic edge to her pulsing electronica that’ll be rare at a festival which typically prefers relentless beats. Expect a headliner’s set equal to her heightened stature in the club world.

Terminal V Halloween Trilogy will take place at Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh, Friday 27 October–Sunday 29 October. A Terminal V after party will take place at The Liquid Room, Edinburgh, Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 October.
