Much like we predicted, San Diego Comic-Con 2018 was a roaring success, and there were a lot of expected and even surprise reveals over the entire weekend. We have compiled the best news and footage to come out of the convention floor in sunny California for the film, tv and gaming fanatic in you.

Film

20th Century Fox certainly did what it could to build up the hype surrounding its biggest upcoming release, The Predator. Director Shane Black announced that the film is a sequel, not a reboot, pleasing a crowd that is tired of rehashed old properties. With a cast selfie taken in predator vision, an exclusive Comic-Con poster and action-packed trailer to go with it, the anticipation is definitely building.

The highly-anticipated conclusion to the Unbreakable trilogy also had its official trailer debut at Comic-Con, and fans got to see David Dunn (Bruce Willis), Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy) and Mr Glass (Samuel L Jackson) sharing a room for the first time (what could possibly go wrong?). The Bumblebee panel brought the news that the movie serves as an origin story for the character (revealing how he got to Earth by himself and his early life on Cybertron) and a clip of exclusive footage explaining how Bumblebee loses his memory.

Even though Warner Brothers did not announce in advance which films they were taking to San Diego, there were no big surprises. Starting with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (and an in-character appearance by Johnny Depp's titular character, which split opinions), a new trailer hit the internet featuring young Newt Scamander in Hogwarts, and a throwback to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone with an appearance from Nicholas Flamel.

Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins was joined on stage by Gal Gadot and Chris Pratt, further teasing Steve Trevor's appearance in the film, but giving fans no clues as to how he survived that very deadly plane explosion. Shazam very nearly stole the show in Hall H, with star Zachary Levi stating that the movie, about a young boy that channels the powers of Shazam, but keeps his childish glee, is all about 'wish fulfillment'. The trailer shows a movie that is not trying to take itself too seriously, and promises heaps of laughter, dropping the often gloomy ambiance of the DC universe.

The panel headliner, however, was Aquaman, with its Atlantean prince arriving on stage literally parting the seas. Director James Wan stated that they are going for a different mood with this film, stepping into the sci-fi/fantasy realm more than the superhero world. The official trailer was also shown, revealing first looks at Aquaman's mother, Black Manta and the gorgeous Atlantis.

TV

Even though it is originally a British production, BBC America got to reveal the official Doctor Who season 11 trailer. A fresh look at the new sonic screwdriver and companions was had, and Jodie Whittaker even took to the stage at a fashion show to model the new Doctor trench coat.

Marvel announced the release date for Marvel's Iron Fist season two as 7 Sep in an action-packed teaser trailer, where Danny takes it into his own hands to protect the innocent. Nightflyers, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and Better Call Saul all received brand new trailers of their upcoming seasons, but perhaps the trailer that caught most people by surprise was the one accompanying the announcement that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is to receive a brand new season. With season six having ended in 2014, season seven will bring the much anticipated return of Ahsoka, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Rex to Disney's own streaming service next year.

When it comes to superheros, there is a new ensemble series in town. The live-action adaptation of the adventures of the Titans has received its first look at Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven, and while some were surprised with Dick Grayson's use of profanity (especially when directed at his mentor, Batman), the jury is still out on how this web series will pan out.

Gaming

One of the most anticipated panels when it comes to video-games ended up never happening. Niantic canceled its appearance at the convention to the surprise of the fans anxiously waiting for updates, their only consolation a Pokemon GO spawning of rare Unown in the San Diego area.

The other game developers, however, did deliver some goodies. The Call of Duty panel on Thursday brought us a new trailer for the 'Blood of the Dead' map, which is a throwback to a fan favourite map from Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Marvel also released trailers for their upcoming game properties, the most anticipated being for Marvel's Spider-Man. With the look at the gameplay from E3 Expo making a lot of fans hit that pre-order button hard, Comic-Con might have them breaking their keyboards with the fresh new footage from the story mode.

Capcom revealed details on the Collector's Edition of the brand spanking new remake of Resident Evil 2. Uber fans will find a special deluxe packaging and a DLC card in this edition, extra outfits for the characters and even a special code to listen to the original soundtrack for extra reminiscent value. On top of all that, you can also receive a figure of Leon, an art book, a digital download of the soundtrack album and a poster. Unfortunately, this edition will be exclusively sold in North America, so if you are pining for it from this side of the Atlantic, you might have to invest a good budget on postage. The game will be launched on all platforms next January.
