Danger Will Robinson! Twenty years since 60s camp-classic sci-fi series Lost in Space got a big screen blockbuster adaption starring Matt LeBlanc, Netflix has resurrected the property as its next bingeable hit.

Now, depending on how fresh your memory is, a new space adventure with the Robinson family might not be hitting your radar, but since the trailer dropped we've gotten quite excited about it. Prison Break's Zack Estrin is showrunning and Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, Game of Thrones: 'Blackwater', 'Watchers on the Wall') is directing multiple episodes. The series premiers 13 April and stars Molly Parker (Deadwood), Toby Stephens (Black Sails), and Parker Posey as Dr Smith.

Following on from its US debut on TNT, New York-set period psychological crime thriller (sure, let's make that a genre) The Alienist lands on UK Netflix 19 April with a mouth-watering cast. Daniel Brühl, Dakota Fanning and Luke Evans star in what looks like Mindhunter meets The Knick (and if you didn't watch The Knick, shame on you).

Other notable TV highlights include Jay-Z appearing on David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction (6 April) and weekly episodes of RuPaul Drag Race Season 10 (6 April onwards). A new instalment of food porn par excellence lands, Chef's Table: this time it's Pastry (13 April). And for those of impeccable taste, Mad Men Season 7.2 (1 April), will allow you to relive the swansong of one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

Movie-wise it's a quieter month, although, at this stage who knows what tricks Netflix might have up its sleeve. Jaws (1 April) hits the platform just when people were thinking of getting back into the warming waters, Michael Mann's gorgeous look at the life and times of John Dillinger (Johnny Depp), Public Enemies (1 April), is definitely worth a revisit, and who doesn't love Richard Pryor classic Brewster's Millions (1 April). Finally, if tension with North Korea has got you down, Netflix has got you covered with Dr Strangelove (13 April).
