Movie lovers rejoice. Sony Pictures Television has just announced a new launch that will give you unfettered access to some of your favourite movies via Freeview and Virgin. Currently on Sky 323, Sony Movie Channel will be launching on 10 Jan 2017, replacing MovieMix on Freeview and Virgin as both channels join together to form one valuable destination for movies.

The channel will launch with a schedule that promises to provide the best movie entertainment, starting with 14 channel premieres in its first month. You'll have films like Godzilla, Twilight, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Maid in Manhattan, The Mask of Zorro and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon to look forward to, as well as a variety of must-see movies, all for free.

Kate Marsh, executive vice president of Sony Pictures Television's Western Europe International Networks division said, 'Sony has a rich cinematic heritage. With our knowledge and love of movies we want to present the best possible movie channel for everyone across the UK and build on our wide-ranging, successful portfolio. The cinematic new look reflects the new channel content offering - favourite movies you will know and love.'

Sony Movie Channel will be kicking things off on 10 Jan with a monster marathon, starting with the channel premiere of the 1998 reimagining of Godzilla starring Matthew Broderick at 9pm followed by classic Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi flick Predator at 11pm.

From Tuesday 10 January find Sony Movie Channel on Freeview 32, Sky 323 and Virgin 425.
