Fix tax and we can fix society, proclaims the libertarian comedian, Dominic Frisby. The voiceover actor has also written various books and columns on finance, and wants to share his economic expertise and political views through the medium of comedy. He wavers between playful dissent – proudly holding up his ballot paper, spoiled with a scribbled cock and balls – and a deeper, hacked-off sense of fundamental injustice.

Genially rattling through historical taxes, including the Ancient Roman urine levy (which began an ongoing trend for putting charges on bodily functions) and the 18th century window tax (the original source for the term 'daylight robbery'), he brings things up to date with stats on HMRC inefficiencies and a bunch of current grievances about health, wealth and opportunity inequalities.

Let's Talk About Tax is an organised mishmash of coloured-in pie charts (hand-drawn with a protractor, he boasts), megaphone soundbites shouted from a soapbox and pre-recorded bullet points from a woman that sounds like the Cadbury's Caramel Bunny, in a vain attempt to sex up his subject matter. Frisby's hour is a nutritionally dense alternative to a lot of snackier Fringe fodder on offer, crammed with fascinating, infuriating stuff, but it takes stamina to keep pace with his quickfire, information-heavy script.
