Your quest for an RPG show at the Fringe is over

Paul Flannery knows his audience. Only a room full of Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings geeks would actually cheer a giant 20-sided dice. The MMORPG Show is an interactive role-playing game as three members of the audience are plucked from obscurity (don't worry, he calls for volunteers, rather than triggering enforced audience participation) and whisked to a time of myth and legend, with Flannery as their eccentric guide.

Obviously with this level of interaction, every night will be different, with our valiant heroes coming up with some genuinely off-the-wall suggestions as to how to tackle their quest. The crowd are also called on to shout out suggestions and fill in the blanks on this wacky adventure. Flannery is a quick-witted and convivial Dungeon Master, but the scenario he sets up is a little disappointing: an ambassador's party is rather mundane, especially when he has so many rich fantasy worlds to draw on for inspiration.

As you'd imagine, The MMORPG Show is incredibly nerdy and if you're a huge table top gaming fan, this is a solid night's entertainment. Expect in-jokes about elves, orcs and Skyrim, and a whole lot of silly improv fun with an RPG twist.

Gilded Balloon at the Counting House, until 28 Aug (not 15), 9.30pm, £8 or Pay What You Want.
